Volunteering

The museum has an established workforce, but there is always plenty more work to be done. We welcome volunteers to help at the museum. Volunteers enrich the skill set at the museum. They help to work towards providing an inspirational experience for visitors to enjoy.

Volunteering at the museum usually means working in our laboratory.

This can include:

  • helping to catalogue our collection,
  • preparing out or conserving our specimens,
  • or speaking to the public at our open laboratory window.

Volunteers can gain experience and knowledge by helping us with events and exhibitions. There is always opportunity to assist with fieldwork, such as site excavations.

We aim to develop the skills of our volunteers, making them part of the team who work at the museum.

If you are interested in volunteering email us at dinosaur@iow.gov.uk

Once we have received your email, we will invite you over for an informal chat. This will give you opportunity to see if what we do inspires you.
